About the Owner of Kids Gym and Dance Center
Wendy Lett Yarbrough, owner and director of Kids Gym and Dance Center, has been teaching children for over 25 years and has time tested her philosophies, methods, and curriculums. With her experiences as a preschool teacher, daycare provider, and most importantly as a dance and gymnastics instructor, Wendy has combined her love of teaching, her love of children, and her love of movement into a program designed to fully engage children as they learn through exploration. Wendy holds a Master's degree from Arizona State University in Dance with a focus in Children's dance and Kinesiology. She has researched and has committed herself to the promotion of children's fitness programs to enhance social and cognitive development. Wendy is an Alabama native and earned her Bachelor of Arts degree in Dance from the University of Alabama. Wendy earned many scholarships, awards, and honors and has performed all over the United States. However, her true love was teaching children. Wendy is married to Andy Yarbrough, a Hoover native, and together they have two boys, Drew and Ben. They currently reside in Hoover and are members of Shades Crest Baptist Church.
Wendy's love of children is the driving force behind Kids Gym and Dance Center. Her decision to open Kids Gym and Dance Center was to offer the Over the Mountain Community an alternative to traditional dance and gymnastics programs. Wendy's classes combine song, dance, gymnastics, props and manipulations to enhance the learning experiences for the children. Her programs and equipment are designed to be age appropriate starting at just 3 months old and continues through the age of 8 years.
